This prehistoric passage grave is the largest and most impressive surviving megalithic structure on the island. It was built during the Neolithic period (c.4000-2500BC) and was in use until the last Bronze Age (c.1000BC). The site was discovered in 1811 when human skulls and bones were unearthed. At only 10m in length, it makes for a fascinating visit when on L’Ancresse Common.

A wide bay encompassing a number of beaches: Rousse (great for swimming and has a fantastic kiosk), Le Picquerel (small sheltered sandy beach), Les Amarreurs (a picturesque small harbour with a playground behind the beach), Ladies Bay and Chouet (beautiful family-friendly beaches with great facilities).

A remote sandy cove that you’ll more than likely have to yourself because it’s a trek to get to… 10mins off the Icart cliff path, then down 218 steps, then down a ladder to get to the beach. Not one for young kids.
