Overview
This restored five-story naval observation tower, built and used by German forces from 1942 to 1945, gives a fascinating insight into the occupation and Hitler’s Atlantic Wall. Only open April to October on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2pm to 4.30pm. Adults £3.00, children £1.50.

Batterie Dollman Gunpit
Overview
Restored battery gun pit that houses the last of its type in Europe. This French, 10 tonne, 22cm gun was restored by Guernsey Armouries in 1997 and externally, the camouflage has been replaced as original. All work has been carried out as authentically as possible to return the site to its wartime appearance. The Dollman is free to visit.

Grandes Rocques Fort (Battery)
Overview
Constructed c.1779 it was armed with three 24 pounder guns and was serviced from a powder magazine located some distance from the battery. The battery was altered by the German occupying forces during the Second World War. Young and old will enjoy exploring the gun positions and trenches across the site.

La Varde Dolmen

This prehistoric passage grave is the largest and most impressive surviving megalithic structure on the island. It was built during the Neolithic period (c.4000-2500BC) and was in use until the last Bronze Age (c.1000BC). The site was discovered in 1811 when human skulls and bones were unearthed. At only 10m in length, it makes for a fascinating visit when on L’Ancresse Common.

Rousse Headland is home to a fully restored loop-hole tower & battery that was originally built in the 19th Century, and still houses 5 cannons today. Aside from the tower and battery the headland has lots to offer with stunning views of the fishing boats bobbing in the water, a footpath leading you round the coast, great swimming off the stone wall and a welcoming kiosk, making it a great stop off for families.
