A beautiful remote sandy cove that you will more than likely have to yourself because it’s a trek to get to… 10mins off the Icart cliff path, down 218 steps, then down a ladder and a final walk across a bank of rocks to get to the beach! *please note that since writing this page I have been informed that this is a bay for Naturists, who knew!*
Location
Located on Guernsey’s south coast cliff path between Icart and Petit Bot, Le Jaonnet can’t really be classed as a family-friendly beach. For those with older children they may enjoy the trek to the beach and the idea of finding a deserted cove.
The views from the cliff path are absolutely stunning, and we have been on many family walks where we have looked at Le Jaonnet from afar, but we’ve never actually made it onto the beach.
The Beach
At low tide, soft sand and stunning blue/green water awaits you at Le Jaonnet, however, at high tide there is no sand left on show.
You certainly have to earn your time on this secluded piece of paradise. If you look closely in the picture you can see the 218 steps that lead down the cliff to the beach, don’t forget, what goes down must come back up!
Once you’ve braved the steps you then need to cross the rocks to get to the beach. Thankfully the beach is stunning after all that!
Facilities
There’s not a lot of call for a beach kiosk on this deserted bay so as you’d imagine, there are no facilities near. However, there are toilets at Icart point and toilets and cafe at Petit Bot.
If you’re looking for a deserted beach and an endurance test, then this is the beach for you! In all seriousness, there’s something very special about Guernsey’s deserted coves and visiting Le Jaonnet would make a great adventure, however, please note that I have been told this is Guernsey’s bay for Naturists.
