A hidden gem of a play area with numerous rope swings hidden amongst the trees. We lived in Guernsey for 2 years before we even realised it existed, now it’s a firm favourite of ours.
Location
The rope swings are located Just passed Bordeaux Harbour when approaching from the South (from The Bridge). When on Castle Road, drive past the car park for Bordeaux Beach and Woodies kiosk (it will be on your right hand side), and at the end of the road turn right onto Rue du Bordeaux and then take the next right which is a small lane, this is Les Petils (look out for the green Ruettes Tranquilles sign at the start of the lane).
Les Petils is a dead-end with parking at the end of the lane.
Footpath
A gravel footpath leads from the parking area along the coast with beautiful views of small boats bobbing in the water and Herm in the distance. There are picnic benches along the grassed area to the left of the footpath. Look out for the concrete steps on the left bank that lead up to the wooded area and the rope swings, they are not very far along the footpath.
Rope Swings
At the top of the steps you’ll see a wooded area with a number of rope swings. There are also a few benches with stunning views, which I always sit on whilst my girls play! At the far end is a proper swing tied to a tree which my girls say makes them feel like they are flying!
Blackberry Picking
In late August the lower level is a fantastic spot for blackberry picking, with bushes along the left hand side of the footpath and a large collection of bushes at the end of the footpath.
Facilities
This is a great spot for a picnic with plenty of benches and picnic tables, however, there are no toilets. The closet toilets and kiosk are at the Bodeaux Beach parking area, a few minutes drive away, or a 10 minute walk along the footpath in the other direction (around Bordeaux Harbour).
This hidden gem of a play area is well worth a visit when in the North of the island. The stunning scenery, footpath, benches, picnic tables and fantastic rope swings makes it a great stop off for any family.
