WHAT’S ON over the Platinum Jubilee Long Weekend

There are a whole host of family-friendly events taking place across the island to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and we have pulled together all the details into one handy list. Note that events are booking up quickly, so don’t delay if you’re interested in an event that needs booking.

Thursday 2nd June

>>> 10am to 5pm. Guernsey Museum sites FREE entry all day:  Castle Cornet, Fort Grey, Guernsey Museum at Candie and the German Naval Signals HQ are all free to enter and at Castle Cornet there will be a 21 gun salute at noon. MORE INFO

>>> 10am. Guernsey Yacht Club Sail Past Castle Cornet: Watch motor yachts, sailing yachts and RIBS bedecked in flags making their way from Little Russel, past Castle Cornet, to Fermain and back. MORE INFO

>>> 11am to 3pm. Imperial Hotel Queen’s Jubilee Family Fun Day *BOOKING REQUIRED*:Head to the Imperial Hotel to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with bouncy castle, face painting, story telling and more! MORE INFO

>>> 12pm to 4pm Family Fun Day, Cambridge Park, FREE!: Fun for all the family with rides, games, climbing wall, food stalls and much more! MORE INFO

>>> 6pm to 9:30pm. The Queen’s 70th Platinum Jubilee Beacon, Rue Maingy, £5.50 per ticket *BOOKING REQUIRED*: Help celebrate the Queen’s Platinum jubilee and fundraise for the Guernsey Scouts going to South Korea for the 25th jamboree. MORE INFO

>>> 8:30pm. Queen’s Jubilee at Jerbourg: With a jazz band playing from 8:30pm following by the pipes and drums at 9:30pm before lighting a beacon. MORE INFO

>>> 9:30pm. Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting at Castle Cornet: The beacon lighting in Guernsey will be live-streamed on the Jubilee website page and the Culture & Heritage Facebook page from 9.30pm. MORE INFO

Friday 3rd June

>>> 11am to 6pm. Jubilee Jamboree, L’islet Common, FREE!: Fun family day out with live music, food and drink stalls, children’s entertainment, vehicle displays and more! MORE INFO

Sat 4th June

>>> 11:30am to 12:30pm. Kids@Kings Royal Mess (1-5yrs), Kings Health Club *BOOKING REQUIRED*: Head to Kings to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee by making a right royal mess! With jubilee inspired activities to excite the senses. MORE INFO

>>> 2pm to 5:30pm. The Big St Peter’s Platinum Jubilee Tea Party, Les Buttes, FREE!: A family-fun afternoon with Jubilee Hat Parade at 3pm, live music, bring and share cakes, hot drinks, big plant sale, games and more! MORE INFO

>>> 3pm to 10:30pm. Platinum Jubilee Community Fete, in the grounds of Government House, FREE! *BOOKING REQUIRED*: Poppy Neame sings flag waving favourites followed by the BBC coverage of the Platinum Party at the Palace on the big screen. FREE event. MORE INFO

>>> 4pm to 6pm Jubilee Street Party, Delancey Elim Pentecostal Church, FREE!: Jubilee Street party with fun and activities for all including games, bouncy Castles and a Free Hog Roast. MORE INFO

Sunday 5th June

>>> 10am to 4pm. Arts Seafront Sunday, St Peter Port: A FREE event for the whole community with an Arts Market, activities, performances and more! MORE INFO

Kids Colouring Competition!  To mark the first Seafront Sunday of 2022 with the theme of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Humanitarian Aid Guernsey wants kids to get creative!

Age Group titles are;
Brilliant Beginners (1 – 5 years)
Masterful Middle’s (6 – 9)years
Talented Tweens (10 – 13) years
 
Colouring forms can be downloaded at

Thursday 2nd June

>>> 10am. Trooping the Colour, BBC One: Starting off the special extended bank holiday jubilee weekend, Huw Edwards, Kirsty Young and JJ Chalmers present live coverage of the platinum jubilee Trooping the Colour.  This year, the 1st Battalion Irish Guards will troop their colour on Horse Guards Parade to celebrate the official birthday of HM the Queen.  The morning’s events culminate with the annual appearance of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for a special jubilee flypast to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

>>> 8pm. Platinum Beacons: Lighting up the Jubilee, BBC One: The first day of the Platinum Jubilee will be marked by the traditional lighting of beacons across the nation and the Commonwealth.  Communities will be coming together to light more than 1,500 beacons to celebrate The Queen’s 70-year reign, and a principal beacon will be lit at Buckingham Palace.  

Friday 3rd June

>>> 9:15am. A Service of Thanksgiving, BBC One: In the presence of senior members of the royal family, David Dimbleby, Kirsty Young and Sophie Raworth will broadcast the Service of Thanksgiving live from St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

>>> 7:30pm. The Crown Jewels, BBC ONE: To mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Clive Myrie has been given unique access to the Crown Jewels. With 13 Crowns and nearly 24,000 precious gemstones, the collection is the nation’s treasure.  In this revelatory documentary Clive travels across Britain to explore the dramatic stories behind these precious jewels from before the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066 to today.  

Saturday 4th June

>>> 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Platinum Party at the Palace, BBC One: The third day of the jubilee celebrations continues with a spectacular evening of entertainment featuring an array of global stars and performers performing in front of Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Sunday 5th June

>>> 1pm to 4pm. The Platinum Pageant, BBC One: Live from St James’s Park in London, Kirsty Young, AJ Odudu, Anita Rani, Anton Du Beke, Sophie Morgan and Owain Wyn Evans introduce the Platinum Pageant. It’s a spectacular parade that brings together dancers, military displays, musicians, key workers and communities to mark HM the Queen’s 70-year reign. The presenters also bring you the best of the street parties from the UK.
