Marble Bay (official name Le Pied du Mur), is a hidden gem on the south coast cliff path. This small, secluded rocky cove is quite a trek to get too, but for those that want to swim in crystal-clear water without another soul and feel at one with nature, this is for you!
Location
Marble Bay is located on the south coast cliff path between Jerbourg and Ferman Bay. The cliff path is stunning no matter which direction you come from. The route to Marble Bay is signposted on large stones so you won’t miss it.
In terms of parking, there is plenty of parking at Jerbourg and you need to walk down the steep steps at the front of the parking area to join the cliff path. If coming from the other direction, you can join the cliff path at Fermain, by the Fermain Beach Cafe, however, there is no parking at Fermain, but an excellent bus service stops at the top Fermain Lane, which leads down to Fermain bay and the cliff path. Any of these buses will take you there: 91, 92, 93, 94, 95. It is also possible to park in St Peter Port and join the cliff path at the end of the road past the Vallette Bathing Pools.
The Beach
You need to follow a large flight of stone steps down to Marble May but before you start on the steps, you’ll get your first view of this beautiful bay.
The steps leading down to Marble Bay off the cliff path..unfortunately not the beach for those with mobility issues.
The beach itself is pebbly with a splattering of large rocks near the back of the beach, along with a few caves that the kids love to explore.
At high tide there can only be very little beach on show at Marble Bay, but it still makes a beautiful place to sit and relax.
Don’t forget, what goes down must come up!…
From the beach there are stunning views of Herm and Sark.
Facilities
There are obviously no facilities at Marble Bay, the nearest are at Jerbourg, where there is the Jerbourg Hotel and Jerbourg Kiosk and toilets. In the other direction there is Fermain Beach Cafe.
