Teaching Languages For Over 25 Years
Accent Language School has been teaching languages to children for over 25 years. They offer classes for all ages, from mum and toddler, to primary school and secondary school children and for any level, from beginner to bilingual children.
Accent’s experienced and qualified teachers are passionate about spreading the love for languages and are committed to help any child who wants to learn or improve their language skills. From sessions at their school in St Peter Port, to lessons in primary schools (ask your school or Accent for information), at your home or online, they offer a wide range of languages and classes like no one else on the island.
Accent’s after-school club and holiday club always have a 45 minutes to 1 hour language lesson thus integrating fun and play with learning.
For secondary school children in particular they know how important it is to be able to have that support and help when preparing for exams. That’s why they have GCSE and A-Level preparation lessons as well as courses and clubs to develop their language skills before they reach the exams years. They also cater for home schooled children who receive their lesson at home or they can head to the Town based offices in the morning if you prefer.
Holiday Club
When it comes to school holidays Accent know how hard it can be to find that all important childcare and/ or interesting things to do. That’s why they offer school holiday clubs for ages 5-11 years in school half terms, Summer and Easter. They do a wide range of activities with the children as well as combining learning another language! Join any of the holiday clubs for something a little different to the norm with language learning and games.
Sessions are available as morning only or full days:
- Mornings: 8.45am – 12.30pm
- Extra lunch hour: 12.30pm to 1.30pm
- Full day: 8.45am – 4.30pm
After School Club
Accent offer an after-school tuition club consisting of a 45 minute language lesson followed by fun activities and school support with homework. Sessions are available Monday to Friday from 3.30pm to 5.15pm. A small snack is offered and the water fountain is always available.
Only £18 per afternoon per child! Accent are able to offer a pick-up service from Notre Dame and Vauvert schools. Pick-ups are charged at £3 per child per afternoon.
All rooms are equipped with educational resources, including smart-board and our staff are fully trained, qualified and DBS checked.
This terms languages include:
- Monday: Portuguese
- Tuesday: Italian
- Wednesday: German
- Thursday: French
- Friday: Spanish
If you want your child to join only the language lesson you can – £12.50 per lesson invoiced by term – contact Accent for times.
Language Classes
Accent offer group and private tuition for young children during the week after school. You can join a group already existing as part of their after-school club or a new group which they can form as soon as they have minimum 4 children.
Simply let them know which language you would like your child to learn and they will do their best to organise a group. Alternatively, Accent’s experienced and enthusiastic teachers are available for private tuition who can come to your house if you prefer (please inquire for rates).
Group lessons are either 1 hour long for £15 per child (for bilingual children and juniors) or 45 minutes for £12.50 per child (infants) and they need minimum 4 children to form a group.
For older children Accent run support classes and exams preparation, just contact them for more information.
Online tuition is also available for infants to secondary school children.
Toddlers & Pre-schoolers
Accent also run sessions for toddlers and pre-schoolers at their school in town, mum can stay and learn with too! Words that your little one is already familiar with in English – such as numbers, animals, family members, and parts of the body – will be introduced in the second language through a combination of creative play, dance, movement and singing.
Sessions will run with minimum 4 children and booking ahead is necessary. £8.50 per 45 minutes sessions invoiced by school term
Time: Accent are flexible so ask for your preferred time and day and they will try to launch a group as soon as they have 4 children.
Exam Prep
Accent Language School offer revision sessions for the following examinations:
- GCSE language exams
- A-level language exams
- DELF & DALF examinations
- Cambridge Examinations
- Guernsey Bar Examinations in French
- Various other examinations: please ask!
Monitoring progress is vital when it comes to preparing for an exam as it is important to focus on your weaknesses and ensure that you are improving at a consistent pace. Our qualified and experienced teachers are familiar with a range of examination boards
Maths and English for Primary School Children
Having missed some school time this year your child might need some extra support with their English & Maths.
Accent tutors will help your child improve their phonics, their reading and writing skills, their numeracy, problem solving, measuring and metric system, geometry, etc. thus helping them gaining confidence.
Group lessons – 3 to 6 children – £15 per child per hour.
Private lessons – £45 per hour (discounts and home tuition available)
